California’s new “gig worker” law – Assembly Bill 5 (AB 5) continues to be a major focus for appraisal management companies doing business in California – as well as for appraisers who contract with AMCs. Over the last two months, I have been revising many contractor agreements for AMCs and working on other changes in response to the new law. You can read about the basic legal issues and threats in the “AB 5 Center” on www.valuationlegal.com.

On December 19, 2019, I am presenting a free video webinar about the essential elements of California AB 5 in specific relation to AMCs and their contractual relationships with appraisers and appraisal firms. I will discuss the basic strategies being implemented by knowledgeable AMCs for dealing with the law, including relevant points for new contractor agreements.

The webinar will end with Q&A. If you plan to register, you can email me your questions in advance: [email protected]. Or, just lob one in during the webinar.

The webinar is limited to 100 registrations. Please register soon if you are interested.

Date: December 19, 2019

Time: 9:30 a.m. Pacific

Are you interested in other legal topics for AMCs and appraisal firms?

When the dust settles from AB 5, I will be addressing new legal subjects:

  • The California Consumer Privacy Act (another new law that goes into effect on January 1) and its potential impact on AMCs and appraisal firms in California.
  • Other new laws relating to valuation and appraisal management that become effective January 1, 2020.
  • What legal subjects concern your company or firm? Please feel let me know: [email protected].
